In the midst of this COVID-19 Pandemic, students, parents, and educators across the world are required to explore new ways of learning — at home.

UNESCO has discovered that “Most governments around the world have temporarily closed educational institutions in an attempt to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. These nationwide closures are affecting over 90% of the world’s student population. Several other countries have implemented localized closures impacting millions of additional learners,” and that’s probably without taking some of the pre-primary and marginalized learners into account.

This is the final part of the process in our AR journey for this project, once we’ve got our essential elements in place, it’s time for us to test the experience. If you haven’t checked out our previous writings, check out Part I and Part II where we talk about the ideation process and about building the assets. If you have, check out the final stages of our process below!

Now that we’ve got everything set up, it’s time to test them out. It’s important to consider several user situations…

Welcome! We’re excited to share our process and insights from one of our latest Augmented Reality projects. For those of you who hasn’t seen Part I of BTS of our AR project, have a look to see how we got here! And for those that jumped here from Part I, let’s dive into it.

We left off last at finalizing the card design and having our plan laid out. Now, it’s time to enter the next phase of the project, which is the digital section of the process. …

The month of December usually warrants a lot of things; holidays, family gatherings, and many more. For us, an additional aspect of the month is preparing for office closure as our team take some time off to rest and celebrate with family. Usually we’ll be sending out emails to our clients and friends an early happy holiday, but we decided to try something different this year. Recently we’ve been noodling around with Augmented Reality (AR) so we thought we’d infuse that element into our end of year greeting for a more unique, immersive experience.

To digital or not digital? We’ve…

As we stick our noses to 2021, we get front row seats to the world’s healing process. That gives me hope. I’m glad that most countries are already resuming lives pre-COVID-19. However, my heart reaches out to ones left behind. Where I’m from, the count keeps increasing, lockdowns are still in place, those pesky rule benders are ever more wildin’. Nevertheless, I am hopeful that things will soon take a turn and we can go back things we miss the most — going to the movies, travelling, and meeting up our loved ones.

In this new chapter, I’d like to…

Happy New Year, internet folks from our family to yours! We hope you came into 2021 refreshed and rejuvenated from the little break at the end of 2020. We are hopeful to see the world unfurling again back to the new age of normal in 2021 and encourage you to keep an optimistic mind as well. Trust me, 2021 can’t get any worse than 2020 — but hey, I don’t wanna jinx anything here.

Before the break, we’ve cooked up a not-so-little experiment in the XR world. A little feast for the eyes and the soul to cheer you up…

The end of 2020 is just around the corner. I don’t know about you, but even though this pandemic feels like it’s never going to end and this year has been such a bummer, I’m actually looking forward to turning a new page in 2021. With the holiday season nearby, tis the season to forge those long lost relationships we’ve dropped off during the year. My hope is that we can use this holiday season to reach out and connect with those we haven’t been able to reach out to during the year.

If you are planning to host in…

Happy (belated) Halloween, to our fellow readers!

Entering the last couple of months in 2020 doesn’t seem too different from when we started. Still at home and keeping health protocols. Most of us are already WFH ninjas by now. As I reflect back at 2020, I did get an overall sense of how the world was responding to COVID-19. This observation reminded me of Elizabeth Kübler-Ross, a Swiss-American psychiatrist on her perception of grief in her 1969 book “On Death and Dying.” …

September is a short month for us because our team took a week off to go on a retreat! Some of you might be wondering, “Retreat? At this day and age where COVID-19 seems to be lurking in every corner of the street? No way!” Well, to you naysayers out there, “Yes way!” If you haven’t noticed yet, our team is notorious for any team gatherings especially team retreats! Although we are a distributed team, we believe that retreats are essential for us to take a step back from work, life, and slow down. Some of our team members based…

It is September. We are slowly closing 2020 when all the months of March to August seems to dwindle down together. Recently, one of our team members presented a deck we worked on together in May. Without any exaggeration, it seems like just weeks ago we’ve put the presentation deck together. Surprise, surprise! It’s been 4 months.

I hope everyone is still staying sane and keeping up with your personal hygiene. I know at times I do feel like these guys:

Our team has tried all sorts of things to keep ourselves sane. Personally, I have been invested in…
